Outdoor Dining & Bar Operations Permit
Thank you for your interest in obtaining an Outdoor Dining & Bar Operations permit in the City of Bloomington! Please be advised, in order for a submission to be considered complete, the application must be completed in full, including all supplemental attachments submitted to this form.
Description:
This is an optional permit for businesses wanting to provide outdoor dining and bar service in the form of sidewalk cafes, parking spaces, or a private parking lot.
NOTE: If your business has a permanent approved structure already, this permit is not for you.
Application Process:
Submit a completed application with all required documentation.
The application will then be reviewed by the following Departments: City Clerk, Economic & Community Development, and Public Works. A City Clerk Department staff member will reach out to you with any questions the review team may have during the review process.
Following the review, a City staff member will reach out to discuss the next steps.
Application Supplemental Documentation:
- Assumed Name/DBA Must be Registered with the State of IL or McLean County
- If the establishment will use a different name for the public than the name of the Legal Entity, proof must be uploaded. If proof is already on file, please upload a document that indicates so.
- Floor Plan of the proposed outdoor service area
- Hand-drawn plans will be accepted. If in Downtown Bloomington, please reach out to the Economic & Community Development Department for additional assistance with a floor plan that includes public right of way
- Certificate of Insurance (Not Policy Declaration Page)
- If applicable, the certificate must show the establishment has liquor liability insurance and must include the following:
- The applicant’s name as the insured (e.g. if the applicant is a corporation, the corporation’s name must be listed);
- the address of the location where the liquor is being consumed;
- List the City of Bloomington, 115 E. Washington St., Bloomington, IL 61701 as the Certificate Holder & Additional Insured;
- the dates of coverage and the coverage limits; and
- state that the outdoor dining area is insured.
